Genuine Fadal OEM tool changer part. The ATC-0027 Turret Spindle is the main shaft of the tool changer from which the cutting tools rotate. The Geneva Wheel is attached to the spindle as well as the Tool Carrier. The Turret Spindle is mounted on the Tool Changer and held in position by stacks of Bellevue springs that allow the shaft to move up and down if the spindle over-travels, pushing or pulling on the Tool Carrier. There is a micro-switch on the shaft that causes an emergency stop when the shaft moves up or down. In extreme conditions this shaft can become bent if the Tool Carrier or a tool in the Tool Carrier collides with an object mounted on the machine table.
